Zagar Brewing

Zagar Brewing is a Slovenian family brewery named after the founder and main brewer’s surname. Slovenia has a very rich brewing industry and a long brewery tradition. According to the first written evidence, beer brewing is a Slovenian thing since 1160. Slovenes are therefore traditionally serious beer drinkers as they drink on average almost 100 liters of beer a year per person. Zagar Brewing was founded in 1926 by my Great Great Great grandfather in Ljubliana, Slovenia. My grandfather’s father immigrated to Kansas in the ’40s but part of the Zagar family still resides in Slovenia and keeps the brewery running.
